Linear Guides for CNC Machining Centres — HG and RG Series
In a machining centre the guide has to hold position while the cutter pushes back. Ball guides cover most axes; roller guides are for the cuts where deflection has to stay small. The pages below separate the two so you can size by load instead of by habit.
What goes wrong on this axis
- Deflection under heavy or interrupted cuts, especially on long gantries
- Chip and coolant ingress that shortens wiper and rail life
- Rail joint layout and hole pitch on machines longer than one rail length
Recommended series
HG ball guide
General X/Y/Z axes from 15 to 45 mm; interchangeable blocks in C/H/P accuracy.
RG roller guide
Higher rigidity for heavy cutting; matched-set supply, SP/UP available.
PG position-measuring guide
Integrated magnetic encoder for axes that need position feedback.

FAQ
| Ball or roller guide for a machining centre? | Ball guides cover most milling and drilling axes. Roller guides are chosen when the cut is heavy enough that ball-guide deflection shows up in the part, or when the axis is long and the gantry is stiff. |
| How do I specify rail length? | Give us the stroke, the hole pitch P and the end distance E, or just the centre distance between the end holes. We calculate L = (n − 1) × P + 2 × E and quote the matching rail. |
| Can I replace only the block? | Yes, up to accuracy P and preload ZA. SP/UP accuracy and ZB preload are lapped as a block-and-rail set and cannot be split. |
