Linear Guide Rails (HGR / EGR Series)
A rail is ordered by model and length, not by the block. The profile is fixed by the size, from 15 to 65 mm, and the hole pitch and end distance come with the size. A rail cut to the right length bolts straight onto the machine, and every block of that size runs on it: square, flange or low profile.
Every linear rail is cut and drilled from 100 mm up, and the same linear rail profile takes any block of that size. Common lengths are held for the standard sizes; anything else is made to your drawing once the hole count is confirmed. Rails and blocks are quoted together so the comparison with another supplier is on the same basis.
Rail dimensions by size
Wr and Hr are the rail width and height, D/h/d are the counterbore and bolt hole, P is the hole pitch and E the distance from the rail end to the first hole. The last column lists blocks that run on the same rail.

Rail length and hole pitch
A rail with n holes is L = (n − 1) × P + 2 × E. Work the length out from the stroke you need, then round to a hole count. Do not round the length and let us place the holes afterwards: the end distance is what the mounting surface is drilled for.
Hole count and end distances appear here.
Where the length is already fixed by the machine, the calculator gives the hole count that fits and the end distance that results. If the number is not whole, either the length changes or the end distance does; tell us which one is adjustable.
Standard lengths
These lengths are held for the size and use the standard hole spacing. Anything between them is cut to order, and the hole count is set by the formula above. The last column is the longest single piece we ship without a joint.

Cut and drilling
Rails are cut square, deburred and drilled on the same set-up, so the hole pitch stays accurate along the whole length. We work from your drawing or from the three numbers above. For rails joined on the machine, the joint is marked on the drawing and the two ends are matched before shipping; a joint in the wrong place leaves a gap under the block that no preload can compensate.
Matched block and rail sets
Blocks up to accuracy P and preload ZA are interchangeable and can be bought separately from the rail. SP/UP accuracy and ZB preload are supplied as a lapped block-and-rail set: the pair is matched at the factory and cannot be split, so the rail length is ordered together with the blocks in that case.
Packing and shipping
Rails are shipped in wooden cases, each rail wrapped and fixed so it cannot slide against another during transport. Long rails are supported at intervals rather than hung at the ends, because a rail that bows in the case arrives with the straightness outside tolerance even though nothing looks damaged. The case is marked with the model, the length and the hole count, so it can be matched to the machine without opening every case on site.
FAQ
| Can I order a rail without blocks? | Yes. Give the size, the length and the hole count or the stroke, and the rail is quoted on its own. |
| What is the shortest rail you make? | 100 mm, or two end distances plus one pitch, whichever is longer for the size. |
| Can two rails be joined? | Yes, and the joint position is set on the drawing. Matching the ends before shipping keeps the running surface continuous under the block. |
| Do you drill to my pattern? | Yes. Send the drawing, or the hole count with pitch and end distance, and the rail is drilled on the same set-up as the cut. |
Tell us the rail size, the length and the block model, and the quotation comes back with the hole count and the lead time for that combination. Back to products.
